A large outdoor mural, commissioned for Cheltenham Literary Festival 2015.

My text was To Kill A Mockingbird – an old favourite from school days. Live drawing, outdoors, sunshine, coffee = bliss.
The mural depicts Atticus holding his children in a safe space, strong, tender and with care.
Along side he holds and supports the world outside.
He is part of the Maycomb community, he lives and breathes it.
The scene is at nighttime, a big old moon up above.
The night (full of stories and goings on) partly penetrates the safe light zone of Atticus’s embrace.
The notion of bed time stories, warmth and security pervades the inner sanctum.
